Honda CR V 2012:its features and price

Honda CRV 2012

For almost 15 years Honda is producing and marketing CRV under crossover SUV segment, which is largely based on the popular Honda Civic platform. Since its launch in the market it is available as Front Wheel Drive and All Wheel Drive option whereas in some of the developed countries it is marketed under AWD segment only. It can also be classified as 4-door SUV depending on its specific body style. Honda CRV 2012 is all set to make a splash in third generation CRV markets with all new desirable features for the first time after 2007 and Honda is believed to be hiding the specifications and designs of the new model. But this model is said to be more roomier and larger than the 2007-2011 models and an increase in fuel economy is  expected and all other features are said to be retained from the yesteryear  models.

This time Honda is planning to launch the new SUV in almost 160 countries and it is believed that the design will be largely based on the animated concept cars currently sold in America. After looking at the competition and redesigned versions of Hyundai Tucson, Kia Sportage and Ford escape 2012 models, Honda will have to reveal some sporty as well as athletic design to look different in the segment. Also we should hope that Honda doesn’t kill the legroom for better interior features which may cause slight disappointment for the critics. It is likely that it will continue to keep the packaging acumen because some of the previous models of CRV from 2007-2011 are considered to be the best for the roomy cabin and extra cargo space, so the mid pack exterior dimension will be retained. It will be interesting to see whether the Honda CRV 2012 will be a ‘Unibody’ design or a pickup truck model, where the truck type engineering is used by designing the body on another frame. As of now SUVs with unibody are criticized as they are not fit for the heavy-duty hauling.

Until now, Honda has decided to keep the same engine which was used in the 2011 model, as the ideal engine and claims to employ it till 2015 and if required it will just increase the capacity of engine in successive years. Drive train is also said to be the same, hence it will be available optional as Front Wheel Drive (FWD) or All Wheel Drive (AWD). The engine used in the cars will be 2.4 Litre DOHC i-VTEC 16 Valve with inline 4-Cylinders which will produce 180 Horsepower and generates torque of 161 pound lb-ft at 4400. Current platform of the 5-Speed Automatic transmission will be maintained with the 2012 model. Along with this engine current fuel economy which will be carried forward is 21 mpg in city and 28 mpg on highway when accompanied with 2WD, and it will give 21 mpg in city and 27 mpg on highway when driven with 4WD.

Some of the features which have to be worked upon include the severe off-road duty which is a designed structure in FWD where more power is provided to the rear wheel when the wheels begin to slip, mainly while cruising or on hills. Still some of the features which has to be worked on are more friendly and sporty suspension design along with reducing the wind and road noise for handsome driving pleasure and performance.

We are going to see some top quality features installed in the new Honda CRV 2012. It is expected to see some changes in the marketing features and packages when they will sell CRVs. And some of the features like Honda Satellite linked navigation system along with USB connectivity and Bluetooth technology for hands free phone and streaming music, Leather Upholstery, Advance seat ergonomics, Power moon roof, heated seats and backup camera along with heated body colored side mirrors will be returning back. The disappointment is that these features are available in only trims of the Honda CRVs, whereas certain Honda competitors market these features in optional package including base model and recently most of the companies are giving the USB Interface as standard feature on all the trims including Base model. The concept behind optional package is making profits and Honda does not allow these features to lower trims and base model. So making some of the features standard will add luxury aw well as increase the sales figures.

The same safety features and warranty system will be carried forward, the safety feature will be available for front passenger, driver and other occupants through airbags and certain technologies and sensors. The prices of these cars have not been revealed as of now and will be declared shortly before this fourth generation car goes on sale. The speculations depending on the history say that it will be within the range of $23,000 and $31,300. “Let’s wait and watch.”
