Ford Expedition 2012

Ford Expedition was launched in 1997, as a replacement for earlier Ford model Bonco under the Full size SUV segment which is produced and marketed by the Ford Motor Company. After redesigning in 2005 it has become Ford F650 truck based SUV which is also capable of towing. Currently what we see is the 2011 Expedition of Third Generation. The Ford Expedition 2012 is redesigned to gain a complete family car status with the base very much similar to 2011 model, but with some interesting array of features. The main specification for the car would be the comfort factor for all 9 passengers sitting in 3 rows and also the extra cargo space which can be acquired by folding middle and third row seats which will have space of 130.8 cu ft.

All new Ford is going to be offered in same lineages XL. XLT, XLT Premium, Limited and King Ranch where as XL is going to retain the base model status. The engine supplied for the Expedition will not see any changes and will be similar to that of 2011 model with powertrain of 6-Speed automatic (4×2) having 5.4 litre 3 valve V8 FFV engine which produces 310 Horsepower and 365 pound lb-ft of torque. The car will consist of four wheel independent suspension with double wishbone in front having short and long arm design along with multilink suspension at the rear. The brake system will be 4 wheel power disc brakes with Antilock Braking System, Brake Assist and Electronic Brake force Distribution (EBD). The mileage for the car is said to be 14 mpg in city and 21 mpg on highway.

The exterior features of Ford Expedition 2012 will include automatic headlights with additional rain lamps, chrome door and lift gate handles, fog lamps, flip up glass for lift gate, privacy glass in rear which will come standard on all the vehicles. Apart from the standard features, grille design will be different for each trim and outside mirrors will have different characteristics out of which some of them will be standard on upper genres.

In the interior segment some of the features which will be kept in accordance with the 2011 model are 1st row bucket seats, second row will have 40/20/40 split seat with centre slide which reclines and folds flat for cargo space, third row will be 60/40split fold-flat-to-floor bench. This all arrangement will create a huge cargo space and bed like structure to carry large cargos. The interior plush features will include powerful Air-conditioning, analogue instrumentation panel with different meters, auxiliary audio input jacks and rear climate control, cruise controls and Tilt, telescopic steering wheel with leather trim along with all the power accessories having one touch up/down driver seat window. All the holders for cup, beverages, pockets, console, panels, nets and hooks accompanying the accessories for the cargo space will come standard on all the vehicles. Driver seat adjustment features will be varying according to the model and some of the features may remain same and manual adjustment is there for the front passenger seat. Regular Audio System will range from Six–Speaker MP3 CD audio system to 7 Speakers 340 watts music system which will have iPod and Bluetooth features. Fords own Sync In-vehicle connectivity system will come standard on all the models except the base model while steering wheel mounted audio controls will be exceptional for higher trims. Certain leather upholstery and floor mats will come standard in luxury models and will be available as leather package for lower trims. Fully equipped navigational package will also stay optional and has to be purchased for extra cost. Additional trailer-tow package along with some of the towing accessories will also remain optional.

Safety of the car is taken care by the front airbags for driver and front passenger, and the front seat side airbags and side curtain airbags are there for three rows having roll over sensors. There are also different sensors and alarms for the seatbelts and safe driving compatibility. LATCH for child safety along with My Key which is owner controlled are some the other features. Warranty provided on all the models will be basic 3 years and 36,000 miles, limited warranty along with 5 years and 60,000 miles is there for the powertrain. There will be certain corrosion and other warrantee for technology based features. As of now the prices are not declared by the Ford for all new Ford Expedition 2012, but are speculated to have a starting price of $37,000 and above, depending on the trim and the additional package.
